Our Deaf Hub – Services
The Deaf Hub is essentially the first port of call to be there for immediate or emergency help for the Deaf and Disabled community in the area. There are currently no other organisations in the area offering these specialised services.
When you arrive at Our Deaf Hub, we will offer you advice and guidance on the support you can access, which is aimed at the pre-social services assessment.
Our Villagers have produced a video, that demonstrates why a Deaf person needs support and is eligible for support under the Care Act.

Care & Support Services
Our approach puts you at the heart of everything we do.
Our approach is simple: we’ll work alongside you to help you decide what support you want, when you want it, and what you want to change and achieve, so you can reach your goals, and live every single day the way you want to.
It’s all about you
We are passionate about working in a person-centred way: this means understanding what is important to you and what is important for you – and trying to achieve a balance between the two.
Important to means learning what people, places, activities and possessions really matter to you.
Important for involves looking at what is needed for you to stay healthy and safe.
What is important to one person may not be what makes another person happy. That’s why it’s so important to us to get to know you!
All our staff are trained to use a range of person-centred thinking tools and techniques – these special tools can help you to think about and plan how you want your life to be. We’ll also involve your loved ones and other people who are important in your life in decisions about your care and support – if you want us to.
Support that meets your needs
You may not even know what type of support you need – or understand the choices that are available to you. We will spend time finding out more about you and then suggest different options that could meet your needs. For example, you may be struggling to live in your own home; feeling isolated and cut off from your local community; or you may just have difficulties with a particular aspect of day-to-day life and find that some support from one of our Wellbeing Officers each day (or week) would help you.
You may want to live somewhere where you can still have your own living space but where there’s help on hand as and when you need it.
We can guide you through the different options and tell you about the services in your area. We can also help you understand the process of asking for support. Just contact us to find out more.
Living well and living happy
We want everyone we support to live the life they want. We can help with all sorts of different aspects of everyday life such as:
Feeling good managing stress and anxieties, doing more of the things you want to do, dealing with other issues that may be having an effect on your overall wellbeing
Independence helping you to learn life skills such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry and developing your confidence to do things for yourself
Money understanding and managing your money including paying bills, rent and tax, and learning about income, benefits, savings and budgeting
Relationships understanding different kinds of relationships, your hopes for future relationships and how to interact with people
Safety and respect staying safe at home, in your local community, and online, including support with road safety and using public transport and having the equipment you need to be safe
Activities and involvement doing the activities that you want to do, developing your skills and strengths, learning, volunteering, working or training, getting involved in community groups
Choice and control choosing where you live and what you do, deciding who supports you and how, people communicating with you in the way you want, people knowing what you like and don’t like
Health looking after your body with exercise and activity, healthy eating and managing your diet, regular health check-ups, dealing with on-going health issues and medicines you might need to take.
